Who Are We?

Engineering Services:
Meca is an Engineering company specializing in the design and analysis of steel stacks.  There are many unique problems that are encountered in stacks, and our specialization allows us to offer our clients fast and economical solutions.  We are a small company and can be flexible in our offering so that we can meet each clients needs:

1) Engineering Design
2) Detailed Drawings (Optional)
3) Fabrication (Optional)

 Meca has Engineering capabilities in-house, and we subcontract drafting and fabrication as needed.  This formula allows us to match our strengths with our clients strengths to obtain the best solution for a given project.

Meca has a Professional Engineer (PE) on staff, and we are a member of ASME STS-1 'Steel Stack Design'.  Currently our Prinicipal Engineer is the chairman of the Dynamics subcommittee.   
Software:
Frequently we have encountered Engineers using pressure vessel and structural software to analyze stacks.  Although these programs may be excellent at what they were written to do (i.e. vessels, or structures), they were not written with stacks in mind.  In our opinion these programs always fall short of the mark when it comes to trying to analyze steel stacks.  

As a result of providing Engineering services, we have generated many useful software tools for analyzing stacks. Realizing that we may be able to fill the obvious vacuum that existed in the software market for stack analysis tools, in 1999 we decided to begin offering our software commercially.   We now have several useful programs which are always being expanded and improved, being used around the world. Our software is used daily, by us, and we are constantly striving to improve the software to make it more friendly.  In addition, I think you will find our prices very reasonable, and our support to be very good.  

Other Services:


Our specialty is stacks, but there are several other areas of expertise which we offer:

- API-579 : We have used API-579 'Fitness for Service' to address flaws encountered in piping and pressure vessels.  This is a very powerful design standard which addresses real world problems such as local and general corrosion, and allows a sound decision to be made regarding the continued operation of the equipment. 

- Piping Analysis:  We have designed many piping systems using Algor Pipeplus and Caesars II.  We have designed many ground flares (pit flares) and many other piping systems encountered in petrochemical facilities.

- Flare Booms:  We have designed several guyed and fixed booms to be mounted on offshore platforms and FPSO's.  The booms are designed to API-RP-2a.

- We design Air Cooled Heat exchanges for some of the largest OEM's in the world.
