Engineering
Services
Meca specializes in the design of
stacks, but we also design other types of Process Equipment. Thanks to
today's technology, most of our communication and design can be done completely
via phone and email. We send all designs electronically in a PDF file,
which allows immediate transfer of information.

Self Supported Steel Stacks:
Meca has designed many different types of self
supported stacks, ranging in height from 6 m (20 ft) to 100 m (328
ft). Some Special design considerations have included:
* Single Piece Lift of Stack
* Special Breech Openings
* Low Temperature
Applications
* "Piggy Back" stacks
* Vibration Design
* Retrofit of Existing Stacks

Guy Wire Supported Stacks:
Very few companies perform the design of guy
wire supported stacks. Meca has designed many guy supported stacks
ranging from 15 m (50 ft) to 167 m (550 ft) in height. We can save
you considerable time in money due to our experience in the area of guyed
stack design. We have performed the following types of special
designs:
* Single Piece Lift of
Stack
(sometimes done from
multiple lift points)
* Low temperature
Design
(Ambient and
Cryogenic)
* Piggy Back design of
one stack off another
* Unique Guy
Arrangements
* Tandem Stacks

Derrick
Supported Stacks:
Extensive experience designing derrick supported stacks:
* 3 Sided or 4 Sided
* Pipe Members
* Flat Faced
* Demountable
|
Offshore Booms:
Meca has designed flare booms for offshore. This include guyed
booms and fixed booms mounted on offshore platforms and FPSO's.
These booms are designed to API RP 2A.

 |
Piping Analysis:
We can perform piping analysis using conventional piping analysis
software, to perform flexibility analysis per ASME B31.3.
|
Pressure Vessel:
Pressure vessel design per ASME Section VIII, Div. 1.
|
Fitness For
Service:
Using API 579 'Fitness for Service' we can rerate components (Vessels,
Piping, or Tanks) based upon an existing flaw or defect. This can be
a very effective tool that can be used to save companies money in lost
downtime and repair expenses. This is frequently used to assess
damage due to local or general corrosion, gouges, or other common defects.
|
Nozzle Loads:
We can perform Finite Element Analysis for Nozzle Loads. This can
save considerable money over using WRC 107/297.
|
Finite Element Analysis:
Finite element analysis does not always have to be expensive. We
encounter certain types of problems repeatedely involving stacks, piping,
and pressure vessels. Therefore, we have become very adept at
building certain geometries very quickly to provide a cost effective
solution.

Commercial Software:
We use the following commercial software to perform our design/analysis
services:
* StaadPro (Structural Analysis)
* Compress (Pressure Vessels)
* Pipeplus (Piping)
* Caesars (Piping)
* FE-Pipe (Finite Element Analysis)
* Autocad (Drawing)
* Stackdes (Stack Analysis)
* Many other in-house developed programs for specialty design.
