Welcome to Meca Enterprises Inc.

Meca Enterprises is an engineering company developing software for Steel Stack design, Wind Load Calculations and Lifting Lug design.  We also provide engineering services on a variety of process equipment (Stacks, Skids, Air Cooled Heat Exchangers, etc.).  One of the most common problems that occur with steel stacks is wind induced vibration, and so we also offer cost effective alternatives to addressing stack vibration (vortex shedding) problems.

Shining light on Windows and Doors

Calculating pressures on windows and doors is one of the most common operations performed in MecaWind, and so we thought we would make a brief video to explain the way to calculate Components and Cladding (C&C). We also show some tips for new features in...
Damping Pad for Steel Stack

Welcome to our Damping Pad

When a vortex shedding problem exists on a stack, sometimes the most economical option is a damping pad. What is a damping pad?A damping pad is a preformed laminated fabric pad of a manufactured material composed of layers of tightly twisted, closely woven...

Florida Building Code 2017 Wind Loads

We have added the Florida Building Code 2017 Wind Loads to our software, MecaWind (Pro feature), and this gave us an opportunity to get familar with the Florida Building Code 2017.  We wanted to take a moment to explain some of the things we learned about...
Viscous Damper

How to Determine Damping

We can all grasp the physical attributes of a stack such as the height, weight, diameters, etc.; however, what is the stack's structural damping?  Does MecaStack estimate the damping of the stack?  Is there any harm in just arbitrarily changing the damping...

Getting High on Wind

I am an amateur cyclist, and I typically ride my bike on trails in my home of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at an elevation of 700 ft [213 m].  One year I took my bike on a vacation to Breckenridge, Colorado at an elevation of 9,000 ft [2743 m].  The first thing I...

Engineering Software

We provide software solutions for Structural Engineers. We offer the only software specifically written for steel stacks in the world and one of the most cost effective wind programs available.

Stack Vibration Dampers

Meca Enterprises offers Damping Pads and Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) to solve Vortex Shedding problems commonly known as Stack Vibrations.

Engineering Services

We can provide Structural Engineering services for stacks, air coolers and other structures. We are licensed in several states as well as Alberta and British Columbia.

Questions? We’re here to help

Whether you are a new or existing software client or debating to subcontract your work to Meca, we offer unparalleled support.

MecaStack is the most widely used software in the world for designing self-supported and guy wire supported steel stacks. An easy to use Windows based interface allows designers to quickly model a stack. The user has complete control over the codes that are used for Along Wind, Across Wind, Stress and Fatigue. Load Combinations and factors can be customized as needed.

MecaWind is a cost effective program used by Engineers and designers to perform Wind calculations per ASCE 7-10 and ASCE 7-16.  The program is simple to use, and offers a professional looking output with all necessary wind calculations. The user also has a great deal of conrol at their fingertips to customize their output to suit their needs.

Wind Example

Our new EBook provides a detailed set of wind load calculations that illustrate how to calculate wind loads per ASCE 7-10 and ASCE 7-16. In addition, the EBook provides a comparison of the various methods within each standard as well as a comparison in the results obtained following ASCE 7-10 versus ASCE 7-16.

MecaLug is an easy to use software program effective in designing and analyzing lifting lugs per ASME BTM-1 “Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices”. The program also has the added ability of being able to apply those lugs to a lifting system and analyze what loads would be seen by the crane, cable, and lugs. Making it an all-in-one lifting design software.

Meca provides damping pads for stacks. Generally these are an economical solution for stack heights from about 50 ft [15.2 m] to 150 ft [45.72 m].

It’s a very easily solution to implement on New Stack designs. Damping pads have been used for about 40 years, and have proven to be very reliable.

Tuned Mass
Dampers (TMD)

A Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is device that is added to the top portion of the stack that increases the damping of the stack, which will suppress wind induced vibration.

Tuned Liquid
Dampers (TLD)

Meca has partnerships with companies that design Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) and Tuned Liquid Dampers (TLD). These are typically used on stacks that are 150 ft [45. m] and taller. There are many factors that determine whether a TMD or TLD is more appropriate.
