Meca Enterprises is an engineering company developing software for Steel Stack design, Wind Load Calculations and Lifting Lug design.  We also provide engineering services on a variety of process equipment (Stacks, Skids, Air Cooled Heat Exchangers, etc.).  One of the most common problems that occur with steel stacks is wind induced vibration, and so we also offer cost effective alternatives to addressing stack vibration (vortex shedding) problems.

Software

MecaLug is an easy to use software program effective in designing and analyzing lifting lugs per ASME BTM-1 “Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices”. The program also has the added ability of being able to apply those lugs to a lifting system and analyze what loads would be seen by the crane, cable, and lugs. Making it an all-in-one lifting design software.

Damping
Pads

Meca provides damping pads for stacks. Generally these are an economical solution for stack heights from about 50 ft [15.2 m] to 150 ft [45.72 m].

It’s a very easily solution to implement on New Stack designs. Damping pads have been used for about 40 years, and have proven to be very reliable.

Tuned Mass
Dampers (TMD)

A Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is device that is added to the top portion of the stack that increases the damping of the stack, which will suppress wind induced vibration.

Dampers (TLD)

Meca has partnerships with companies that design Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) and Tuned Liquid Dampers (TLD). These are typically used on stacks that are 150 ft [45. m] and taller. There are many factors that determine whether a TMD or TLD is more appropriate.
